LOST RIVER CHURCH OF CHRIST

Please allow us this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you. We are a group of people who belong to Jesus Christ, desire to praise God for the wonderful blessings he has given us through him, and seek to tell others about these blessings. In an effort to better describe ourselves and our objectives, let us briefly tell you about who we were before we submitted to the Lord and what we have become as a result of God's great love and mercy.

Who We Were (Ephesians 2:1-3)

Without Christ we were dead in sin. We were in the grip of many of the same sins as those addressed by the apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians many years ago. Many of us were selfish and greedy. Some of us were impure and sexually immoral. Still others struggled with the vices of envy, jealousy and hatred. In all of this and other things, the devil had convinced us that the pursuit of our own desires would bring fulfillment and happiness. However, that superficial perspective of life led to emptiness. That emptiness could only be filled by our belief that Jesus Christ conquered the devil and provided freedom from sin and death.

Jesus, Triumphant Over Sin (Hebrews 2:14-17, Revelation 1:17-18)

We believe that Jesus triumphed over sin. He did so by offering His own perfect sinless life as a sacrifice for us. Through his death on the cross he has taken away the sin of the world. By his resurrection from the dead, he demonstrated his power over death and took away the power of the devil and the fear of death. We believe that Jesus is alive forever and that he has taken the keys of death from the devil. God has made us alive in Christ and given us the hope of eternal life.

Who We Have Become (Ephesians 2:4-10)

We have become much more than a people driven by fleshly desires. Through God's love and mercy we have been made alive in Christ. We have had ours sins removed by baptism into Jesus' death and have been raised a new people. We are God's chosen people, a holy nation, and His own children. We have been created in Christ Jesus to do good works and to declare the praises of God. We are not perfect. We still war against sin, but God has promised that through faith He will shield us from temptations beyond our ability to withstand. We use God's Word, the Bible, as the sole basis of our beliefs because through it, as Paul wrote, we can be built up and given an inheritance among the saved.

We Welcome You

We are very grateful for the gift of God's love and mercy and we are thankful for the forgiveness of sin and the salvation we have been promised through the death and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ. We want others to taste of the goodness God has given to us. And we would like to sit down and simply read the Bible together with you and discuss our faith in Jesus Christ and his resurrection. Or maybe you could join us at one of our regularly scheduled assemblies at Lost River. As a church that belongs to Jesus Christ, we meet together often to encourage each other, and it would be our pleasure for you to join us as you begin to taste some of God's great blessings.
