Model Husband

Our men were challenged this past Sunday. In Genesis 3 Adam stood by silently as Eve was deceived and then blamed her when questioned by God. We can all look at Adam and see the same sinful tendencies in our own hearts. Many of us struggle to grow up and act like men, remain emotionally distant, mistreat our families with rough talk abuse of authority, and many of us are way too focused on the things that really don't matter.

Contrast this with the second Adam, Jesus. Jesus models manhood and is held up as the model husband in Ephesians 5. He acts on behalf of his bride proactively, responsibly, sacrificially, instructionally, and effectively. His wife is His crown becuase He invested in her and she blossomed. A wife is a garden, and just like the first Adam, God charges us to tend and keep our garden. And He will hold us accountable for how we handled our charge.

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
